- Physical Therapy in Denver: Our Denver PT clinic evaluates, treats, and prevents musculoskeletal pathology. Your physical therapist will look at all possible pain sources, including; bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons, and nerves. With a thorough PT evaluation, an accurate diagnosis can be determined, which leads to an effective physical therapy treatment. Musculoskeletal problems are treated with a combination of techniques which may include manual physical therapy (mobilization and/or manipulation of involved structures), Active Release Techniques, Trigger Point Dry Needling, therapeutic exercise for strength and stabilization, flexibility, balance and proprioception, and modalities such as ice, electric stimulation, and ultrasound to help treat the problem and prevent it from recurring. Physical therapists effectively treat acute injuries, post-operative conditions, injuries occuring from car accidents, and chronic pain. APMC has recently changed its name to Body In Balance Physical Therapy; please visit our new website at www.denver-pt.com.
- Active Release Technique (ART):
ART is a soft tissue management system developed by P. Michael Leahy, DC that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Common injuries such as back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shoulder tendinitis, scaitica, plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow, headaches, and knee problems can be quickly resolved with ART. These injuries are often a result of acute injuries (pulls, tears, collisions, etc.), repetitive overuse (microtrauma), or constant pressure or tension (hypoxia). Each of these factors can cause your body to produce scar tissue in the affected area which result in tight and weak muscles, tendinitis, and entrapped nerves. The goal of ART is to restore optimal texture, motion, and function of the soft tissue and release entrapped nerves or vessels. This is accomplished through the removal of adhesions or fibrosis in the soft tissues via the application of specific manual protocols.
- Trigger Point Dry Needling:
Trigger Point Dry Needling, also known as Intermuscular Stimulation (IMS) is a treatment technique, which uses small filament type needles to release tight muscles and deactivate myofascial trigger points with the goal of permanently reducing muscle pain and dysfunction. Physical therapists/physiotherapists are now using this technique around the world to effectively treat acute and chronic orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions.
